When are tryouts?
- Golfers should start building their resume between January and July. If they meet the required criteria during this period, they will receive an invitation to tryout at the end of July.
- DATE: End of July thru beginning of Aug.
- LOCATION: Indian Creek Golf Course and Coyote Ridge Golf Course
What will tryouts consist of?
- Tryouts will consist of two 9 hole rounds of golf….placement in program will be determined at that time...(First or Fourth Period)
- Tryouts will be held at Indian Creek and Coyote Ridge Golf Course

- PLAYER EXPECTATION: All players must supply their own equipment (clubs, balls, etc.) We ask that all players have a knowledge of golf and its rules before trying out. All player must have played at least 9 holes a few times before coming to tryouts.
- PARENT EXPECTATION: Parents are more than welcome to come to tryouts. We ask that during the range session they stand at the back of the practice tee & on the play day they stay on the cart paths.
When will I find out if I make the team?
- Coach Fields will communicate via email or phone if you make the team
- Fall schedules will be updated for the player to reflect the changes
Role of the parents
- Be an active member in the Hebron Golf Booster Club
- Be Responsible for providing transportation to and from weekly golf practice for your player. **Carpooling must be coordinated by parents as this is not offered by the Booster Club
- Provide golfer with equipment, lessons, financial obligations
- Take every opportunity to come watch your player and support their game!
What does the practice schedule and season look like?
- All golfers will be in 1st or 4th period
- Weekly practice/course days are Mondays-Thursdays and Fridays are reserved for MVF at the indoor facility
- Our home courses are Indian Creek, Coyote Ridge, and Castle Hills
- They must be in golf class all year unless they play another sport that is not in-season in the spring. Any spring sport will not work with golf due to it is golf’s most important time of the year. (Exceptions will be basketball players)
- We play all year long. There are 8 tournaments a year, usually 4 before Winter break and 4 after the break
- The varsity district tournament and any play-off will be additional tournaments for those who qualify
Who can qualify for the Varsity Team?
- Any player can qualify and work their way up to Varsity
Who can tryout and what is expected?
- Any grade (incoming 9th grader – current 11th grader) may tryout
- Participant should possess fundamental skills and knowledge of the game
- Update Knowledge of basic USGA golf rules to: Have basic knowledge of the USGA Golf rules
- Be able to carry your own golf bag, play USGA golf, and keep score for yourself and rest of the golfers in the group
- Possess core values: honesty, integrity, respect, sportsmanship, confidence & perseverance
Tournament transportation/what to expect on tournament days
- Transportation is provided to and from tournaments- however parents are responsible for dropping off and picking players from the high school on tournament days
- Snacks/drinks will be provided during tournament days
- Parents are highly encouraged to come watch/support the player and team. Parents however cannot engage with players by providing coaching, giving advice or rulings while tournament is in play
